811 & Private utility locating what's the difference?
811 Dig Safe is the law. You must call 811 before digging BUT 811 will only locate utilities that run from the road to the meter. These utilities are "utility owned" utilities and are not owned by the homeowner/business owner.
Private utility locators locate utilities AFTER the meter. These are "private" utilities and are owned by the homeowner/business owner.
